Crestron demonstrates how technology is transforming stadiums and connected spaces worldwide.
The Espai Barça — Spotify Camp Nou project, with a capacity of 105,000 spectators and more than 200 connected rooms, sets a benchmark for what professional AV integration can achieve in large-scale venues.
Spotify Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona and the centrepiece of the Espai Barça project, is undergoing a comprehensive transformation to turn Catalonia's most iconic sports venue into a multipurpose technology campus featuring hospitality areas, corporate meeting rooms, an immersive museum and a megastore. All these spaces are interconnected through the Crestron platform, enabling year-round operation, 365 days a year.
Using this development as a reference, Crestron will participate in InfoComm Latin America 2026, taking place from October 21 to 23 at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, to showcase the technology model that enables deployments of this scale in stadiums, venues, hospitality spaces and highly complex corporate environments.
A stadium that goes beyond matchdays
The main objective of Espai Barça was to move beyond the traditional model of a sports venue that operates only on matchdays. The new Spotify Camp Nou, with a capacity of 105,000 spectators, required infrastructure capable of hosting community events, corporate meetings, cultural activities and premium hospitality services, thereby diversifying its revenue streams beyond activities on the pitch.
The new icons of major cities are their stadiums. It all starts with the fans, but our ambition goes beyond matchday. From immersive museum tours to a flagship megastore, every visit immerses guests in the spirit of Barcelona and the club's history. To create a complete destination experience, we needed robust infrastructure, and Crestron was that partner, says Jorge Laborda, Engineering and Sustainability Manager at Espai Barça.
Technical integration and centralized management
The technology deployment includes 4K video distribution through DM NVX AV-over-IP, audio over IP using the DM NAX platform, Saros in-ceiling speakers, TSW-1070 touchscreens, Crestron 1 Beyond intelligent cameras and AirMedia® wireless presentation systems with BYOD functionality. More than 200 connected rooms operate on Crestron Virtual Control and are centrally managed through Crestron XiO Cloud®, enabling device status monitoring, remote updates and proactive issue resolution.
Most spaces feature a standardized configuration based on touchscreens, speakers and integrated lighting controls to simplify operation for users. VIP areas, the pitch club and presidential suites follow the same standard while incorporating designs tailored to specific requirements, allowing guests to adjust music, presentations, lighting and blinds directly from the touchscreen interfaces.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Box and boardrooms feature AirMedia® systems for wireless content sharing from personal devices. Crestron 1 Beyond cameras also provide automatic real-time tracking and framing of the active speaker to optimize video feeds during hybrid meetings.
Our experience with Crestron has always been very positive. When reliability and connectivity matter, Crestron is the only ecosystem we trust to operate at this scale, says Miguel Castro, Lead AV Technology Integrator for the project.
Applying the technology architecture in Latin America
The infrastructure deployed at Spotify Camp Nou addresses operational requirements commonly found across Latin America, where stadiums, arenas, convention centers, hotels and corporate campuses seek to optimize the use of their facilities, generate revenue beyond major event dates and operate with smaller technical teams.
The region has numerous large-scale venues that often rely on fragmented audiovisual systems with limitations in scalability or maintenance. The Crestron platform addresses these challenges through a unified AV control and distribution system that manages the entire facility from a single interface, a native IP-based architecture that simplifies cabling and supports future expansion, and remote monitoring tools that enable multiple rooms to be managed from a central location.
Crestron at InfoComm Latin America 2026
Crestron invites integrators, consultants and venue operators to visit booth M304, where they can see a demonstration of its AV-over-IP distribution, intelligent control and remote space management platforms.
In addition, Manuel Peláez, Business Development Director, will present the educational session The technology model behind the most connected and profitable stadiums on Thursday, October 22, from 12:35 to 1:15 p.m. in the Monte Albán Room. The session will explore the integration of AV technology in high-performance venues.
