Crestron introduces the DM NVX 370 Series with USB-C and its first proprietary chip for AV-over-IP systems.
The company has launched the DM NVX 370 Series, featuring USB-C connectivity to transmit video and USB data while providing 100 W charging through a single cable, alongside the DM NVX System-on-Chip (SoC), the first chipset designed in-house by the company.
AV-over-IP technology has evolved from specialised infrastructure into a fundamental component of how organisations distribute information and manage video, from digital signage and communications to live events. In the leisure and hospitality sectors, Futuresource forecasts that global shipments of 1G to 2.5G AV-over-IP encoders and decoders will double between 2024 and 2029.
Crestron describes DM NVX as the convergence of three pillars: the signal, enabling virtually any source to be sent to almost any screen; the platform, designed as a long-term investment supported by ongoing updates; and the infrastructure, integrating networked audio and video as a fundamental layer of the IT network.
DM NVX has always been the infrastructure that keeps spaces running, but what is evolving now is our ability to bring even more intelligence and capabilities to these installations. The DM NVX SoC is our own design, developed to meet the requirements of these environments, and the 370 Series is the first product built on this architecture, demonstrating its potential, explains Alex Peras, Executive Vice President of Product and Engineering at Crestron.
DM NVX 370/37X Series: a single cable for device connectivity
The new hardware adapts to the way users share content in workspaces, primarily through laptops and USB-C connections.
The 370 Series features USB-C connectivity built directly into the device, enabling simultaneous transmission of video and USB data, as well as delivering up to 100 W of power to charge connected devices, all through a single cable.
HDMI inputs are also available, allowing users to connect different sources regardless of the room configuration.
DM NVX SoC: the first chipset designed by Crestron
As the chip has been developed according to Crestron's own technology roadmap, every improvement introduced to the DM NVX platform can be extended to the SoC. The new chipset supports 4K resolution at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, native audio and continuous 24/7 operation.
Unlike off-the-shelf chipsets designed for multiple industries, the DM NVX SoC has been developed exclusively for professional AV applications, delivering 30% greater power efficiency. In addition, firmware updates allow new capabilities to be introduced without replacing the hardware.
