The Estates at Acqualina is a private, luxurious gated community nestled in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Its two soaring 50-story residential towers feature a dazzling collection of curated homes that combine postmodern architectural design with distinct Italian and Mediterranean styles.
With Crestron, we fulfilled the client's need for a consolidated and user-friendly interface encompassing all the smart devices. The challenge
The Estates at Acqualina aimed to harmonize luxury living with modern convenience by blending sophisticated technology into the design-forward common areas and individual residences. The solution would need to maintain the elegance and comfort of the towers, while delivering a baseline of automation for all tenants that could be upgraded in the future.

Power Design, Inc. was involved from the very beginning and had professional experience with other teams involved in the project. A strong partnership among all major contributors was key to a successful implementation of smart living. A comprehensive Crestron automation solution serves as the backbone for the residences.

The technology
The Crestron Home® OS simplifies the user experience, granting tenants effortless control over various functionalities, such as lighting, security, entertainment, and environmental. The owners of each unit have the option to upgrade their Crestron automation system to the Crestron Home platform for a unified interface. The convenience and comfort provided by the Crestron Home platform makes it an ideal fit for homeowners looking to enhance their living spaces. Penthouses can include from four to seven bedrooms with up to nine bathrooms and six powder rooms. These impressive apartments also feature family rooms, terraces with outdoor kitchens, and private pools. With an expansive residence, having centralized control can help streamline simple adjustments which can be accessed from either touch screens or keypads.
Typically, the residences come equipped with one touch screen in the foyer and one in the primary bedroom, but tenants can upgrade to include more. Crestron Horizon® keypads are also available for selecting lighting and shading scenes in each apartment. Each button has its own purpose, such as dimming or turning on lights or opening and closing the shades. With the press of a button or using automated scheduling, residents can easily personalize their smart home experience. Whether tenants are in their unit or away, they have complete control over their system.

The Crestron DM NVX® AV-over-IP platform, including Crestron DM NAX® audio-over-IP technology, was introduced to provide a reliable and efficient method of distributing audio and video signals throughout the homes. DM NVX technology is used on displays in the lobby and other common spaces in the complex as well as individual apartments to notify the community about events. DM NAX audio-over-IP is used in conjunction with the DM NVX systems in the apartments to distribute audio, which is especially useful when entertaining as music plays synchronously as guests move throughout the home.
Entertainment is at the fingertips of all residents. Kids and teens have their own game rooms, while adults can enjoy the cigar and billiards rooms, wine room, and the Wall Street Trader’s clubroom. Thrill-seekers can experience the adrenaline of a Formula One™ race car driver on the simulator, offering the buzz of high-speed racing, while those seeking friendly competition can enjoy the bowling alley or surfing simulator. For a more relaxing option, residents can also enjoy a cinematic experience at the comfortable onsite movie theater.
