The Javeriana University of Colombia enhances the quality of its Simulation Center with Shure technology.

The Pontifical Javeriana University (PUJ), established in 1623, is a private university located in Bogotá and Cali, Colombia. For five consecutive years (2018-2022), Times Higher Education ranked it as the number one university in Colombia, and it placed 13th in Latin America in the QS university rankings for 2023.

Previously, the medical simulation center at Javeriana University comprised a mix of various technologies, brands, and cabling, which did not adequately meet the students' need to interact effectively with the technology and academic programs they came to study in the simulation center. The implementation of technology was undoubtedly a differentiating factor for the university and one of the most important aspects that allows it to reach a much broader market of professionals fully trained in all fields – in this case, healthcare – to meet the demands of today's job market.

Solution

The products selected for the technological upgrade of Javeriana University’s simulation center were the MXA710 microphones and Centraverse microphones.

One of the most important features of this project was the reliability of technical stability, the warranty after-sales service, the support for project implementation, and, above all, the scalability for future implementation or growth of the technology.

What I like most about Shure’s technology is its constant innovation. For example, the microphones used in this project manage to have a capture zone and other zones of audio rejection. The main challenge for the simulation center was addressing the technical need to renew the existing technology. Shure equipment serves as the communication bridge between the teachers in the control room and the students in the simulation rooms, she concludes.
