The North Wollongong Hotel is a large and dynamic hospitality venue in the heart of Wollongong, New South Wales.

It is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere, featuring live music, DJ sets, and sporting events. This busy space, which includes a bar, bistro, beer garden, and a room for private events, required a high-quality sound system to maintain an exceptional listening experience throughout its areas.

The management of North Gong, aware that the sound system installed in 2003 no longer met expectations, decided to embark on a complete renovation. To do this, they hired Dan Chapman from Data Dan, who, with the support of a local distributor, designed and installed a high-quality sound system that is adaptable for the future.

The main objective of the project was to ensure full coverage throughout the venue without having to push the volume, as the hotel is located in a residential area and the acoustic impact needed to be kept under control. Additionally, the goal was to eliminate dead spots and sound fluctuations that characterized the previous system.

In the bar and bistro areas, speakers designed to provide complete coverage, even at low volumes, were installed without sacrificing sound quality. This allowed for a pleasant atmosphere with soft background music, while for more lively events, the speakers have the capacity to increase intensity and deliver more powerful sound.

In the events room, the system was reinforced with additional speakers to ensure uniform coverage and clear sound, tailored for both live music performances and DJ sets. The stage area was equipped with specific equipment that provides the necessary reinforcement for low frequencies, crucial for events with impactful music.

The implemented solution has transformed the sound environment of North Gong, eliminating dead spots and enhancing the customer experience throughout all areas of the hotel. Thanks to this installation, the venue now offers an immersive atmosphere with uniform sound, allowing visitors to enjoy music and dance anywhere within the premises.

The success of this renovation demonstrates how a well-planned approach can meet both the technical needs of the venue and the expectations of customers.
