LEDVANCE has designed and implemented the lighting system for the ski slope at the Swedish resort of Vemdalen for SKISTAR AB.
The project has enabled the facilities to reach new standards of quality and efficiency thanks to the lighting solution provided and supplied by LEDVANCE.
64 floodlights covering 900 metres of slope
SKISTAR AB entrusted the project to LEDVANCE due to its extensive experience in sports lighting projects and the excellent cost-performance ratio of its products.
Specifically, the German supplier configured a total of 64 FLOODLIGHT ARENA RGB luminaires controlled via DMX for the 900-metre ski slope, integrated into the 32 masts that now support the installation.
The LEDVANCE solution offers multiple benefits. These include a luminous flux of up to 97,000 lm in the dual-head version and low levels of flicker, ensuring optimal visibility at all times. In addition, the fixtures offer high tolerance to temperatures down to -25°C and a nominal lifespan of up to 120,000 hours, making them a highly durable, low-maintenance solution.
High-efficiency LED luminaires also reduce energy consumption and enable a fast return on investment thanks to the installation’s low operating costs.

LEDVANCE has created a dynamic and highly visual atmosphere with this new lighting system, which also has minimal impact on the natural mountain environment where the slope is located.
The solution not only significantly enhances the user experience, but also contributes to improved safety and visibility on the slope, adapting to the specific conditions and requirements of the space.
Guests particularly appreciate the colours and lighting effects on the slope. Images and videos are being shared on social media, confirming this new dimension of the experience for both adults and children, said Patrick Sörebo, LEDVANCE project manager.
