One of the most effective ways for brands to connect with consumers is through interactive digital signage.

Rob Fletcher reviews some of the most outstanding campaigns from the past 12 months, celebrating the joint innovation between signage providers and marketing professionals.

While print is a useful tool for attracting attention to a brand, product or service, it does have certain limitations when it comes to interacting with consumers. Technological advances —such as QR codes and augmented reality— have expanded the possibilities available, but only to a certain extent when compared to digital signage.

 

From creating and displaying personalised jokes for drivers to supporting an art exhibition in the cultural heart of New York, digital signage offers brands and their marketing partners an enormous range of options to ensure that all-important interaction with the consumer.

 

Below are some of the best examples of interactive digital signage from the past year, paying tribute to the companies and technologies that made them possible.

 

DJ, make the signage shake!

Bounce Empire, the world’s largest indoor inflatable amusement park, partnered with JCM Global for an impressive new central installation. JCM installed a circular CLEAR display around a DJ stage, creating a completely new sensory experience for visitors. Measuring more than 20 metres around and 1.2 metres high, the display surrounds a hydraulic stage in the centre of the bounce area, offering DJs a fully immersive environment.FESPA señalización digital 1 HI

Stay safe in the sun

Ocean Outdoor and the British Skin Foundation launched a striking and important digital campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of sun exposure. The digital display showed close-ups of different skin types and tones; as UV levels rose, the skin began to burn and blister in real time. To provide accurate data, Ocean Outdoor used its live data feed API together with weather sensors that displayed the exact UV level at each location.FESPA señalización digital 9 HI

A signage salute

In the US, Lamar Advertising Company developed a special campaign to mark Veteran’s Day. The Heroes Across America campaign displayed photographs of military veterans on digital billboards in the regions where they live. Friends and family could nominate a veteran to appear in the campaign, which was displayed on more than 1,000 digital billboards.FESPA señalización digital 3 HI

Going underground

Juice and smoothie brand Naked partnered with digital content agency ArtBotAI on an innovative digital out-of-home (DOOH) campaign on the London Underground. Presented as the first DOOH display synchronised with arriving trains on the iconic Underground, the adverts activated according to train schedules and displayed messages such as “Heading to Heathrow?” or “Going East?”, interacting directly with commuters.FESPA señalización digital 4 HI

Banking on success

Livesignage partnered with Castagneto Banca 1910, a historic financial institution in Tuscany, on a campaign designed to connect with customers. The company implemented an interactive digital signage system in branches, complemented by a mobile platform that allowed customers to interact with touchscreens featuring personalised content tailored to their needs.FESPA señalización digital 8 HI

A work of art from LG

LG partnered with psychedelic pop artist and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic logo designer Steven Harrington on an art exhibition at Frieze New York 2025. Visitors were able to meet Mello, one of Harrington’s characters, brought to life on the transparent LG Signature OLED T TV. Additional screens around the exhibition displayed more of the artist’s work.FESPA señalización digital 2 HI

The world’s biggest digital lifeguard

INNOCEAN and Shinsegae Property collaborated on this impressive project: The World’s Biggest Lifeguard at Grand Josun Media. Located at Haeundae Beach (Busan, South Korea), the large-scale digital signage display delivered real-time safety messages through a 3D anamorphic video featuring a gigantic digital lifeguard. The content reflected real environmental data such as weather conditions, wave height and safety guidelines for swimmers.FESPA señalización digital 7 HI

A showcase of signage

Ocean Outdoor collaborated with DC Studios and Warner Bros UK on an eye-catching campaign for the new Superman film. The project used Ocean Showcase, an installation made up of two curved screens based on 3D DeepScreen technology. Located at Westfield Stratford City (London), the screens displayed clips from the film, allowing passers-by to take photos to share on social media.FESPA señalización digital 10 HI

A new world record!

What better way to draw attention —and spark conversation on social media— than by breaking a World Record? Adsquire, a company specialising in marketing for law firms, did just that: it achieved the record for the most law firms featured on a single billboard, with more than 1,000 firms displayed on a digital screen in Times Square, New York.FESPA señalización digital 6 HI

Driving success

We close the top 10 with a more light-hearted campaign: Kwik Fit and Ocean Outdoor teamed up on a humorous campaign aimed at UK drivers. Screens in various locations anonymously analysed vehicles stopped at traffic lights and delivered personalised jokes based on the make, type, colour or fuel of each car.FESPA señalización digital 5 HI
