Logitech reduces 139,000 tons of CO2 across its product portfolio.
The company has released its Impact Report for the previous year, highlighting the progress made in reaching the sustainability goals.
This year, thanks to its focus on Design for Sustainability (DfS), Logitech has managed to reduce almost 139,000 tons of CO2e across its entire product portfolio and operations, which is equivalent to avoiding the pollution that a gasoline car would produce by circling the globe 13,000 times.
Logitech continues to lead with innovative and effective sustainability initiatives. We have achieved a 58% reduction in our carbon footprint (Scope 1 and 2) since 2019 and a 24% reduction in emissions from our value chain (Scope 3) compared to 2021, bringing us closer to our target of reducing Scope 3 emissions by 50% by 2030. Design for sustainability and the use of renewable energy will remain key in our strategy to minimize our carbon footprint, said Hanneke Faber, CEO of Logitech.
Some time ago, the company committed to reducing the carbon footprint across its product range. For this reason, Logitech has been working to integrate environmental and social sustainability at every stage of its products, from the selection of raw materials to their end-of-life disposal.
In its FY24 Impact Report, it highlights several products that have achieved significant reductions in their emissions thanks to the implementation of the Design for Sustainability (DfS) approach. Among these, the wireless keyboard Wave Keys stands out, which has reduced its carbon footprint by 37% compared to the previous generation, and the Casa Pop-Up desk, which has achieved a 34% decrease compared to a "do nothing" scenario.
The report also highlights other important achievements such as the incorporation of Next Life Plastics (recycled plastic) in 3 out of every 4 products, avoiding the emission of over 25,000 tons of CO2. Since the program began in 2020, a total of 75,000 tons of CO2 emissions and the use of more than 30,000 tons of virgin plastic have been eliminated.
It has also committed to transparency, as 66% of Logitech products now carry the carbon label, up from 42% in 2022. Furthermore, the company has set a goal to label all of its products with the carbon label by the end of 2025.
Additionally, the company uses low-carbon aluminum in 66 product lines, produced with renewable energy, eliminating over 13,000 tons of CO2 in 2023. It has increased the use of FSC™-certified paper packaging to 19% of its products, and 73% of the new products launched in FY24 already use FSC™-certified packaging. Moreover, 94% of the electricity needed for its operations now comes from renewable energy sources.
On the other hand, the report also highlights Logitech's commitment to equality and inclusion. Logitech has achieved gender parity in its management team, with a balanced 50/50 representation of men and women, led by its CEO Hanneke Faber. In addition, its Board of Directors features 40% female representation. In parallel, the company continues to drive initiatives that promote equality and inclusion globally, collaborating with organizations such as Girls Who Code, AbleGamers, GLAAD, Team4Tech, and the Royal College of Art in London.
Additionally, Logitech has also strengthened its commitment to supplier diversity, expanding collaboration with companies owned by minorities, women, and underrepresented groups, and has maintained its Gender Fair certification for the third consecutive year.
