Atrium Canarias has designed and implemented the meeting room for the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote.
Atrium Canarias, in collaboration with Audiovisual Cloud, has equipped the meeting room of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote with an advanced audio and video system based on Bose Professional solutions.
This solution clears the table for better collaboration. By combining the top-notch performance of Bose Professional speakers and the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone, along with the ControlSpace EX440C DSP processor and Bose Professional PowerSpace amplification, a seamless meeting experience enhancing productivity is achieved.
With fewer devices mounted on walls and tables, meeting participants can stand, sit, or walk around the room freely, with the confidence of being able to hear and be heard.
Looking into the details of this room, it should be noted from the outset that the room's acoustics have been considered, hence ceiling acoustic panels have been installed to reduce the room's reverberation time and greatly improve the final result.
Regarding the sound system distribution, the decision was made to install a combination of front speakers on both sides of the main screen, along with a distributed ceiling speaker system. This distribution allows for remote room voice to be emitted from the front, providing a clear image and voice localization in the same position. Additionally, it allows the use of ceiling speakers for different content.
The typical use of this room is for conferences, mainly using Microsoft Teams software from PCs, so the Microsoft Teams certification of the solution was crucial in deciding to implement the Bose Professional system.
Conferences are conducted wirelessly from PCs, using a Barco Clickshare CX-50 system for this purpose, so compatibility with this system was also a necessary requirement.
The quality of a remote room's video conference is heavily influenced by the quality of the acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) system implemented. In this case, the AEC algorithm of the Bose Professional ControlSpace EX440C processor does an excellent job, and its noise reduction algorithm can minimize noise produced by the air conditioning system, even when it is running at maximum capacity. This allows for very natural meetings without causing fatigue in participants, especially in lengthy meetings.
Although the ceiling microphone used in the room's main mission is to capture participants' voices clearly to send them to the remote room, in this case, it was also required to slightly reinforce the participants' own voices in the room, a concept known as VoiceLift.
To meet this requirement, a very particular mix-minus system has been designed. By being able to receive information about the microphone beam's position, the entire room (360º) has been divided into 6 different zones. The installed Crestron control system reads the beam's capture angle and assigns it to one of the 6 zones, sending a signal routing order to the DSP processor to route the microphone signal to 6 different speaker mixes, each attacking a different speaker.
The peculiarity of this system compared to others is that the logic for these routings takes into account not only the angle but also the presence of sound.
To achieve this, the ControlSpace EX440C has been programmed to detect actual speech, using a combination of signal detectors above a threshold and ensuring that the signal persists for a certain time. This also allows for positioning cameras to focus on the person speaking.
In summary, the system designed and implemented by Atrium Canarias with the collaboration of Audiovisual Cloud has achieved the following:
- Provided a truly integrated top-notch conference solution combining Bose Professional speakers, the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone, the ControlSpace EX-440C processor, and PowerSpace amplification.
- Optimized the conference experience with fewer devices mounted on walls or tables, giving participants more freedom to choose whether to sit or stand anywhere in the room and the confidence that they can hear and be heard.
- Ensured clarity and intelligibility in large meeting rooms thanks to superior echo reduction technology, allowing remote meeting participants to communicate confidently and feel as if they were in the room.
- Integrated devices with popular unified communications platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, etc., to provide enhanced audio performance in fully integrated meeting rooms.
- Built confidence with end users through integrated conference solutions from globally respected audio companies that are already known and recognized as top-tier brands.
