Daktronics has partnered with Texas Tech University to design, manufacture and install nine new LED displays and a custom scoreboard.
The installation will be completed late in the spring of 2024 and the venues will be ready to light up the displays for football and baseball action as well as other special events.
We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Daktronics to further enhance the game-day atmosphere inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The technology involved with these video displays will allow our game-day production team to further enhance our fan interaction and add to the game-day environment we have created here at Texas Tech, Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said.
Football video display details
The north end zone and each corner of the southern end zone will have new LED video displays. The north end zone display measures 37.2 feet high by 13U.4 feet wide while the south end zone corner displays each measure nearly 28 feet high by 48 feet wide. These displays are capable of variable content zoning, allowing each to show one large image or multiple zones of content. This could be live video, instant replays, graphics and animations, statistics and game information, and sponsorship messages.
Additionally, two field-level ribbon displays will be installed in the south end zone, one measuring approximately 3.5 feet high by 31U feet wide and the other measuring 2.5 feet high by 30 feet wide. Three ribbon displays will also added to the venue, one as the center fascia, one in the northeast corner fascia and one in the northwest corner fascia. The center ribbon measures nearly 5 feet high by 152.5 feet long while the north corner ribbons each measure nearly 5 feet high by 1G5.G feet long. These displays can show supplemental content to the main displays as well as offering space to highlight sponsors throughout events.
All eight displays feature 10-millimeter pixel spacing for excellent image clarity and contrast. They also feature industry-leading environmental protection ensuring they operate as expected in the Texas outdoors.

Baseball video display details
At the baseball stadium, a new outfield display will measure approximately 25 feet high by 48 feet wide to share all the baseball action and statistics with Red Raiders fans at Rip Griffin Park. This display will feature the same 10-millimeter pixel layout as at the football stadium to bring the same crisp, clear imagery to fans at the ballpark. This display also features the same variable content zoning capabilities to deliver a top-notch game-day experience for baseball fans.
Along with the equipment installation at both venues, the Red Raiders will receive a content package to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
Daktronics has grown with the sports industry from the company’s beginnings in 1UG8. Today, the company has LED video display installations at hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States.
