Hikvision strengthens its early fire detection technology with the Technical Suitability Assessment issued by Applus+.

Thermographic technology is playing an increasingly important role in environments where detecting a temperature change can provide critical information before a hazardous situation becomes visible. Unlike conventional imaging, thermography captures the infrared radiation emitted by objects and converts thermal differences within a scene into information that can be analysed and monitored.

This capability is particularly relevant to fire prevention and early detection, where continuous temperature monitoring makes it possible to identify hotspots and thermal anomalies that may serve as early warning signs of a fire. Hikvision's thermographic technology is designed around a large language model (LLM) to continuously monitor protected areas and detect these types of variations.

In this context, Hikvision has obtained the ETI – Technical Suitability Assessment, issued/evaluated by Applus+, for its thermal camera solution. This assessment confirms the solution's suitability for early fire detection and prevention, within the scope defined by the assessment.

The ETI has been obtained within the framework of Spain's Fire Protection Installations Regulation (RIPCI). For innovative products or systems for which no specific standard exists, Article 5 of the RIPCI provides for the need to demonstrate their suitability for the intended use through a favourable technical assessment.

In this context, the assessment provides a framework for deploying the thermal camera solution in fire prevention and early detection projects, subject to the established conditions.

A new opportunity for the professional fire protection channel

Obtaining this assessment also expands Hikvision's activities into the professional fire protection market, bringing thermographic technology to a new ecosystem of engineering firms, system integrators and specialised installers.

The launch also includes dedicated training and channel support initiatives, including webinars and technical sessions aimed at fire protection distributors and installers.
