Tateside implements bespoke joinery solutions for workspace providers worldwide.

For modern workspace providers, ensuring consistent user experiences and a true bring-your-own-device (BYOD) meeting setup is a priority.

London-based integrators Tateside have developed and deployed a unique solution to common meeting room challenges in the form of a custom screen shroud, manufactured by British bespoke furniture designer Matthew Hill and shipped globally to the UK, APAC, EMEA and the US.

At Tateside we’ve been fortunate enough to work for several years with one of the largest coworking providers on the planet across their global building network. Over this time, one of the most common issues we’ve identified is that users disconnect devices, such as video conferencing hardware, from meeting room screens and plug in their own equipment, explains Andy Sullivan, Co-founder at Tateside.

Although Tateside had already installed several video conferencing systems for this client, users were still able to remove cables and render the system inoperative without technical intervention. Working closely with Matthew Hill, Andy and the team developed a shroud made from moisture-resistant substrate, finished in a high-pressure matte black laminate.

The shroud has been designed to be flat-packed for global shipping and includes pre-machined threaded mounting points for screen brackets and UC video bars, allowing for quick installation and alignment. It also features an acoustically transparent material to conceal the UC bar behind it.

The shrouds are available in a variety of sizes to fit screens from 50” to 75”, as well as to house Cisco Room Bars with screens up to 55” and Cisco Room Bar Pro models with screens up to 85”. The shroud fully encloses the screen and its peripherals, preventing users from removing cables and thereby disrupting the room’s AV system setup. It can be customized in multiple finishes, including wood grain, making it a stylish addition to any modern meeting space.

What may seem like a minor inconvenience quickly becomes a resource drain for staff, who must continually reconnect and reset the room, causing unwanted downtime. With the custom screen shroud, we’re not only solving the problem but also providing a solution that complements interior design and can be deployed across dozens of sites globally, Sullivan continues.

While the client is already enjoying the benefits of these new shrouds — including greater meeting room functionality and higher satisfaction among end users — the Tateside team foresees custom screen shrouds becoming one of the top trends among other corporate clients in the coming months.
