China’s first immersive cultural tourism train departs, powered by Unilumin LED solutions.
This was no ordinary journey, but an immersive experience of light and display: China’s first immersive cultural tourism train, the Tianjin Time Tour, officially set off on its voyage.
Among the different carriages, the Montage Fantasy Interactive Performance Carriage (Car 7) and the Immersive Time-Tunnel Carriage (Car 9) were developed in collaboration between Unilumin Group, China Railway Beijing Group, Tianjin Tourism (Holding) Co., Ltd., and Thinda Environment Technology Group (a company partially invested in by Unilumin’s affiliated fund).
These carriages incorporate a full range of Unilumin LED terminals and UHD Metasight solutions, transforming the train—formerly a retro green carriage—into a “mobile cultural gallery”.
This innovative, scalable, and replicable cultural tourism model not only received continuous praise from the first passengers but also attracted the attention of leading media outlets such as CCTV and People’s Daily.
A train that shines and tells stories
An immersive experience powered by Unilumin Metasight
Unlike traditional trains, the Tianjin Time Tour is structured around the main theme Fantasy Time, consisting of 10 themed carriages. While the first six recreate a nostalgic classic seating style, Carriages 7 and 9, equipped with Unilumin’s LED solutions, stand out as the most innovative and surprising highlights of the train.

Upon entering Car 7, a massive Unilumin LED screen unfolds along the carriage walls, creating a dynamic and fantastical stage.
As the train sets off, the visuals seem to dance to the rhythm of the journey: mountains, seas, clouds, and starry skies pass by rapidly. Here, passengers co-create the story alongside main characters they do not control, becoming part of the narrative.
Unilumin’s LED screens, together with warm orange-toned décor, create a welcoming atmosphere. This space functions both as an art installation and a social area, where technology gains emotional warmth, turning the carriage into a moving piece of art.
Immersive Time-Tunnel Carriage (Car 9)
Stepping into Car 9 begins the Tianjin Track Time Series time-travel journey. A 270° wraparound small-pitch LED ceiling screen, combined with glasses-free 3D stereoscopic visual effects, transforms the entire carriage into an immersive theatre. From the bustling ancient Tianjin port in its golden age to its futuristic skyline, past and future coexist in the same space through light and imagery.
In addition to the LED hardware, the project incorporates the Blanc AI image quality engine developed by Unilumin. Its high dynamic range and intelligent color calibration ensure that every frame delivers a truly cinematic visual feast.
Local culture + Metasight technology
The Tianjin Time Tour is a tourist train refurbished from an old Chinese railway unit and represents an innovative model that promotes deep integration between transportation and cultural tourism. It responds directly to the needs of young trend enthusiasts, family travelers, and seniors seeking leisure.
On the outside, the train features a gradient paint design symbolizing the passage of time. Inside, it incorporates traditional Tianjin elements, blending intangible cultural heritage with Unilumin’s Metasight solutions. Each carriage tells a moving story of the city.
Here, Unilumin’s LED solutions do more than display content: they become a narrative medium. Thanks to their nuanced color expression, precise brightness control, and wide viewing angles, Unilumin’s screens bring depth to the space and warmth to the content.
