The all-weather outdoor LED technology, designed to withstand any climatic condition, enhances the club’s training and analysis methods.

Innovation applied to elite sports

High-level competition demands precision. To remain at the top, FC Barcelona does not only rely on signings and academy talent: it also embraces technology as a driver of competitive advantage. Ahead of the 2025/2026 season, the club upgraded its main training field –Camp Tito Vilanova, within the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper– with an audiovisual solution tailored to its needs: a 5.5 x 3 meter Philips Urban LED 7000 Series wall, capable of delivering visibility and real-time analysis under any condition.

From idea to practice

The project, led by PPDS –the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays– together with local integrator LED Dream, was conceived with a clear goal: to improve visualization and tactical analysis directly from the training pitch.

The installation, strategically located next to the touchline, allows the coaching staff to project instant replays, performance metrics, and positioning data without interrupting the session’s flow.

Extreme performance

The Philips Urban LED 7000 Series model (44HUL7039DP//00) stands out with its 6,000 nits brightness and 3.9 mm pixel pitch, ensuring readability even under direct sunlight or at night under floodlights. Its IP66 rating guarantees resistance to dust, heavy rain, and the corrosion caused by Barcelona’s sea breeze.

For AV integrators, this case is a perfect example of how robustness and energy efficiency combine in outdoor projects requiring high reliability.

A strategic tool

Far from being just a visual support, the LED wall integrates as a strategic training instrument. With it, coaches can:

  • Review plays live.
  • Analyze player positioning.
  • Make immediate tactical decisions.
  • Increase player engagement during sessions.

As César Sans, Sales Director Iberia at PPDS, pointed out: “The display provides new levels of analysis, from player data to tactical decisions that can make the difference between success and failure.”

The value of AV integration in sports environments

The collaboration between club, manufacturer, and integrator was the key to success. The swift execution and minimal disruption to training show how a well-planned AV project can transform the daily operations of a client as demanding as FC Barcelona.

For AV professionals, this case is a reference in outdoor LED technology applied to high-demand sports environments: from hardware reliability to the customization of the solution based on real usage routines.

Conclusions

The FC Barcelona example shows how the combination of elite sport + audiovisual integration is evolving towards more interactive, analytical, and technologically advanced training methods.

In the words of Jae O Choi Park, Head of Commercial EMEA at PPDS: “When it comes to quality, we do not accept second best. And as history shows, neither does FC Barcelona.”
