The NHS Trust Hospital uses professional BRAVIA displays from Sony to improve patient comfort.
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital, an NHS Trust hospital providing essential healthcare to the community, has chosen Sony’s professional BRAVIA 4K displays for its new purpose-built patient unit, which includes facilities for emergency care, children’s stays, and intensive medical care.
This unit was built with the highest quality in mind, aiming to make patients’ stays as comfortable as possible.

High quality matters
In any context, image quality is an important factor in determining the overall quality of a display, but in this installation it was even more so. The goal was that by installing a complete audiovisual solution in the new unit, patients at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital could watch the same content they would normally see at home, providing them with a sense of familiarity and hopefully comfort during examinations and procedures.
The powerful 4K HDR X1 processor and TRILUMINOS™ technology from Sony, integrated into the professional BZ30L display, allowed patients to enjoy these familiar programs in full detail, ensuring a better visual experience during their hospital stay.
Sony’s professional BRAVIA displays were used instead of standard consumer screens because of their many features that make them more suitable for professional environments. For example, the IPTV capability offered by the BZ30L makes it an excellent alternative to cable television. It still provides the live and on-demand content viewers expect from cable but with the added capability to fully customize the viewing experience. This means the hospital can carefully select the content and adjust it depending on whether it’s an adult or children’s ward.

The superior image quality offered by Sony’s professional BRAVIA displays, combined with features that make them ideal for rooms with multiple viewers, made Sony the ideal candidate for this new unit. Having these displays in both adult and children’s wards means patients can feel at home, watching their favorite shows in full detail, commented Kirsty Edmondson-Jones, Director of Infrastructure at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital Trust.
A more comfortable experience for everyone
The hospital was committed to making this new patient unit a comfortable and calm environment, with the hope of minimizing the stress and anxiety that often accompany hospital visits.
To achieve this in the audiovisual field, AV integrator AVworx was chosen to procure and install displays that would allow multiple patients to enjoy a pleasant viewing experience throughout the unit.
To do this, AVworx selected the BZ30L series. With a wide range of screen sizes from 43" to 98", AVworx was able to make the most of the patient unit’s space. In addition, the extra wide viewing angle combined with the screen’s high brightness ensures that anyone in the room, regardless of their location, can enjoy sharp, bright images.
It is a great honor for us that Sony’s professional BRAVIA displays are now being used at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital with the goal of improving patient comfort. We strive to deliver displays of the highest quality, and knowing the real benefits they can bring, we have no intention of slowing down this mission, commented Adam Dover, Senior Director of Trade and Marketing at Sony Europe.
