Messe Frankfurt expands its portfolio in Central Asia and will organise the Intelligent Building Expo.

The new event will take place in Tashkent from 20 to 22 May 2026 and will cover the areas of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water supply, lighting and building automation, security technology and cybersecurity.

According to Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt:

With our strong trade fair brands Light + Building, ISH and Intersec, Messe Frankfurt has leading events dedicated to integrated and smart building technology, security and fire protection. We are very pleased that the Intelligent Building Expo now allows us to bring together selected product areas from these three trade fairs. This new format gives us the opportunity to respond to the needs of the region and expand our expertise in Central Asia.

The Intelligent Building Expo is presented as a platform oriented towards the future of urban infrastructure, covering everything from efficient climate and water management systems to state-of-the-art lighting and security technologies.

As a professional meeting point for industry players, it is aimed at manufacturers, project developers, architects, engineers and representatives of governments, associations and institutions.

This will be the eighth specialised trade fair organised by Messe Frankfurt in Uzbekistan, joining Automechanika Tashkent, Comtrux Tashkent, Scalex Tashkent, Heimtextil Uzbekistan, Texworld Tashkent, Apparel Sourcing Tashkent and Beautyworld Central Asia.

As part of its business expansion, Messe Frankfurt works closely with its partner Business Media Central Asia (BMCA). This experienced regional organiser is responsible — under licence from Messe Frankfurt — for managing the company’s events in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has become one of the most dynamic economic regions in Central Asia. Strong investment growth, structural reforms and industrial diversification have made the country an attractive market and an ideal location for trade events. Central Asia is rapidly modernising its cities and infrastructure. In Uzbekistan alone, there are more than 57,000 active companies, many of them in the construction, engineering and urban development sectors. For international companies, it represents a new market with long-term growth potential and strong demand for solutions in energy efficiency, water management and building security.

In this context, the European Union announced an investment package worth €12 billion during the first EU–Central Asia Summit, held in Samarkand in April 2025.

The main focus is on energy, infrastructure and digital connectivity. Germany’s activities in Uzbekistan are also part of the EU’s cooperative approach, which prioritises climate, energy and sustainable development as key pillars of development cooperation.
