With the aim of strengthening the professional skills of IT and AV technicians to enhance their performance in a world where audiovisual systems operate over computer networks, content is hosted in the cloud, and security is a key aspect in any project, the upcoming InfoComm 2024 trade show will present an extensive training and engagement program on these topics under the concept of Enterprise IT.

InfoComm 2024, organized by AVIXA (the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association), is the largest audiovisual industry trade show in the Americas and will take place from June 8th to June 14th (exhibition from June 12th to June 14th) at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Enterprise IT program, presented for the second time at InfoComm, will offer a new two-day workshop on AVoIP fundamentals, as well as educational sessions on topics such as IoT solutions, IT and AV system design and integration, network design, among others; as well as a networking event for professionals in both fields and a tour of the trade show focused on enterprise IT.

Today, having a basic set of professional skills in the audiovisual sector requires including some basic computer competencies, and the same can now be said of IT technicians who need, at the very least, to know how to manage audiovisual systems on a network, in addition to some aspects of AV system operation in a physical space, says Annette Sandler, Senior Director of Live Content, USA/Canada, at AVIXA.

Highlighted activities of the Enterprise IT program include:

• The session Combining IT and AV (June 12), led by Keri Manasa from Legrand AV, will provide an overview of the impact created by the explosion of AV solutions on IT, the cloud, and IoT. It will also explore elements of shared networks, VLANs, network management, and other developments that will impact future IT and AV system design and integration.
• Laurent Masia from NETGEAR AV will lead the session How to Design an AV over IP Network (June 12), discussing challenges, best practices, and solutions for successfully designing a multiswitch AV over IP system.
• The session Documentation and Coordination Strategies for Network Design (June 13), presented by Jenn Steinhardt from Shen, Milsom & Wilke, will offer a high-level approach to understanding coordination points between IT, AV, and design teams.
• In the presentation Unicast and Multicast: Maximizing Efficiency in Content Distribution (June 13), Frank Padikkala from Audinate will demystify the fundamentals of unicast and multicast transmissions and explore the world of content distribution workflows and industry best practices.
• InfoComm will organize a guided tour led by José Mozota from Freman Solutions (June 12), focusing on key advances in networking and cloud technologies.

Additionally, in the AVIXA Xchange Live space (booth W2847), a meeting focused on IT for technology leaders from participating companies in InfoComm will take place on Wednesday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m.

On the Technology Innovation Stage (booth C8676), on Thursday, June 13th at 11:30 a.m., upcoming trends in enterprise IT will be discussed, focusing on how technology directors are incorporating AI into their IT workflows.
