In an ambitious 18-month project, the University of Lincoln overcame logistical and technical challenges with Sennheiser.

 
Challenge

The University of Lincoln faced the challenge of installing 150 microphones across numerous high-impact teaching spaces within a tight 18-month timeframe, including 12 lecture theatres and the new Lawress Hall meeting spaces.

Managing access to these frequently used spaces and minimizing disruptions during installation posed logistical difficulties. Additionally, integrating the microphones required significant updates to the existing networking infrastructure to ensure compatibility and seamless operation.

Solution

Sennheiser’s TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) microphones and SpeechLine Digital Wireless microphones were chosen for their reliability, ease of use, and ability to reduce the mental load on academic staff.

The TCC 2 eliminated setup complexities for nontechnical users, while automated camera tracking and MobileConnect integration improved blended learning, lecture capture, and assisted listening experiences.

Despite logistical and infrastructure challenges, the installation was completed within the deadline, enhancing the overall teaching environment with minimal manual intervention and streamlined operations.
